Head Measuring for wigs.jpg

Step 1: Measure the Circumference

  • Place the measuring tape at the front hairline.

  • Run it just above your ear, around the nape of your neck, up behind your other ear.

  • Bring it back to the starting point at your front hairline.

  • This is your head circumference.

Step 2: Compare Your Measurement

Use your measurement to determine your cap size:

  • Petite: 20.5” – 21”

  • Average: 21.5” – 22.5” (fits about 90% of women)

  • Large: 23” – 23.5”

Important to Know

  • Each brand is a little different: Jon Renau, Belle Tress, Raquel Welch, and others may all feel slightly different even if labeled the same size.

  • Construction matters: Lace front, hand-tied, and open-cap wigs can feel looser or tighter depending on the style.

  • Adjustable straps: Most wigs have built-in adjusters for a more custom fit, but measuring first is the best way to avoid returns.

  • When in doubt: If you’re between sizes, sizing up and adjusting down usually gives the most comfortable fit.

Sizing by brand

Belle Tress Cap Sizing

Unlike other wig brands that offer Petite, Average, and Large separately, Belle Tress uses a universal cap size designed to fit most head shapes.

  • Fits: 19" – 23" head circumference

  • This range comfortably covers Petite through Large in one flexible size.

  • Belle Tress caps are made with stretchy, adjustable straps so you can tighten or loosen as needed for a secure fit.

💡 This makes Belle Tress a great option if you’re between sizes, or if you’re not sure exactly where you fall on the measurement chart.

Jon Renau Cap Sizing

Jon Renau follows the traditional cap size system, offering multiple sizes for the most accurate fit:

  • Petite: 20.5" – 21" circumference

  • Average: 21.5" – 22.5" circumference (fits about 90% of women)

  • Large: 23" – 23.5" circumference
